I Know

by Jason on October 27, 2006

I’ve learned the intricate strategies of selling
Inside and out, every imaginable detail
I could even write a book with my knowledge
But I’ve never sold anything before

I’ve studied the subtle skill of leadership
From the greatest gurus alive
I have given advice freely from my memory
But I’ve never led anyone before

I’ve acquired the proven method of building a company
Attending every seminar I can find
I can lecture on any aspect from my copious notes
But I’ve never started a business

I’ve researched the noble subject of psychology
Reading the most detailed literature around
I’ve counseled many from my expertise
But I’ve never confronted the weaknesses I have

I’ve analyzed the fine art of relationships
Until I know everything I should do
Telling couples how to understand one another
But I’ve never had a relationship myself

I’ve memorized the advanced techniques of investing
From the most successful people I know
Advising families about their finances
But I’m just as broke as can be

I’ve detailed the field of diet and exercise
Interviewing the healthiest people I see
Surprising others with my hidden knowledge
But I don’t follow anything I know

I’m tired of being an overeducated derelict
I’m sick of knowing everything but understanding nothing
Watching as people who know far less than me
Go out and do everything I know

I don’t care to be that professor in the classroom
Like I have always been in the past
I would gladly give away all of my knowledge
If I could but live it in my reality
