I’ve had many friends tell me I have a gift of communicating emotion and feelings. It’s just something that I do. I love to write, express and communicate in a way that others really get the FEELING of what is coming across.

My wife is my greatest inspiration and it is for her that I dedicate this short love poem.

My Devoted Wife

You have followed me round the world
Anything you would do to make me happy
When I am mad, your heart hurts
And you turn into a sad little puppy dog

When I hurt, you feel my hurt
When I worry, your body feels it too
You love the direction I provide
You are my devoted wife

A better wife man could not ask for
A wife who accepts nothing less than integrity
And always asks me to be my best
Who never places her selfish needs before me

She inspires me to be the best man I can be
Because she deserves nothing less than that
I accomplished and became all that I am
Because she is my devoted wife by my side

The following funny love poem is based on a true story.

I Would Drown For You

Some might utter the well-worn words
“I would die for you”
But a phrase so oft repeated I might replace with
“I would drown for you”

Perhaps because my story is specific
Involving a close encounter with death
One I won’t soon forget
While snorkeling in the Andaman Sea

A devoted wife who loved me dear
Urged and begged me to overcome my fear
Pleaded with me to learn how to swim
So she wouldn’t have to save me one day

So courageously I leaped from the seafaring vessel
With goggles and snorkel, with fins and my life jacket
I stayed close to the edge of the boat at first
Barely containing my fluids inside

Taking her hand I ventured further out
Soon I saw I would not sink
Nor would I be eaten by man-eating sharks
I even saw Nemo comforting me

Soon I knew I would have to go it alone
My precious life jacket I would need to relinquish
And venture to see if I could float on my own
Without sinking like an anvil to the sea bottom

Miraculously with the tiniest effort
I float like a fat person filled with air
Soon I venture far away from the boat
Almost reaching ten whole feet

With time and practice my distance increases
Soon I can handle a few minutes alone
Before rushing back to the boat’s side
And catching my breath before fear sets in

Soon I decide to swim really far
Pushing my edge one hundred feet out
Accompanied of course by my life guarding friend
Because while I’m courageous, I’m sure not stupid

I float easily in the ocean so calm
Three minutes relaxed as a hippie so stoned
Until the moment I turn to go back
The boat an infinity away it seems to me

Fear creeps up from deep in my gut
Slowly overtaking my body
Attempts I make to stuff it back down
But sheer panic the upper edge owns today

I flail my arms like a drowning donkey
I forget all that I know about swimming
And do everything I know I shouldn’t do
Grabbing onto my friend who bats me away

Just as I’m about to sink to the bottom
My friend grabs me and pulls me back in
Safe in the boat I realize I can say
To my honey, “I would drown for you today”

I remember as a kid I was told to always show gratitude. I thought it was a polite thing to do, but I never got how essential it was for my own life in regards to my happiness and having the things I wanted. These gratitude quotes are my musings about what gratitude does not only for the receiver, but the giver as well.

-Gratitude benefits the receiver just as much as the giver. Gratitude is the receiver’s way of reciprocating and giving back to the giver as an offering of love.

-One-way giving is ultimately unfulfilling. The cycle of giving is incomplete without the gratitude of the recipient to finish the cycle. An ungrateful recipient leaves the giver unfulfilled as the giver’s gift falls onto a space of hard rock where the giver learns he won’t ever give his gift there again.

-My gratitude is just as important as a gift in return to the giver. My gratitude recognizes the value of the giver’s gift and gives the giver meaning in his gift. Without gratitude, there would be no continued giving and no meaning to any service, love or giving performed.

-You can’t give to something that can’t show gratitude. I can’t perform a wonderful act of service for a rock or an inanimate object. There’s no consciousness there to acknowledge the gift. Hence, there can be no giving or service in the world without a reciprocation and acknowledgement in the form of gratitude.

-Gratitude is using whatever is given to me. Whether it be a gift, whether it be wisdom I learn, whether it be any type of knowledge or God-given talent, gratitude is utilizing everything that I have been given, whether physical or spiritual in nature.

-Gratitude also exists in the form of acting upon whatever knowledge and wisdom I am given. If I apply not that which I have been given, I will not be given any more knowledge to learn and I will lose that which I have.

-The opposite of gratitude is entitlement. Gratitude exists without expectation. Having gratitude means you don’t expect anything and that anything that comes your way and elevates your life you are incredibly grateful for. Entitlement means you are grateful for nothing and are disappointed and frustrated when you don’t get what you want or you don’t get your free lunch coming your way. The more entitlement you have, the less you will ultimately have in your life.

-The less gratitude you show, the less you will have in your life. No one will continue to give to a person who is not grateful and does not appreciate what he has been given.

-A tried and true way to get more of what I want in life is to show gratitude for everything I have and everything that comes way. The energy of the universe around you will continue to flow your way if you accept and show gratitude for everything you have. The less gratitude you show the less will come your way.

-Life is about being happy now with everything I already have and not needing anything more. Only through this matter of showing gratitude will you ultimately be fulfilled in life and will infinitely more come your way.

-Everyone is entitled to abundance if they will but show gratitude for everything they already have. He who shows no gratitude may own the entire world but feels as if he has nothing and remains empty inside.

-Scarcity is the lack of gratitude. Many of the wealthiest men in the world continue to try to dominate the world and get even more money precisely because they feel lack and scarcity in their lives. They feel empty inside and are ever-consuming hoping to fill that lack and scarcity inside.

-You may have heard the Bible quote about the man who sleepeth and who awaketh, but his soul is tired or the man who eateth, but who remains hungry inside. This is akin to he who does not show gratitude, to he who is constantly looking for something outside of himself for fulfillment and cannot find that which can only be found within.

-Gratitude is how I show the universe that I am ready to receive an infinite abundance coming my way. I must be grateful for all the money and items I have. If I feel I need more or that I don’t have enough or that I can be happy only when I get out of debt, when I’m wealthy or at some point in the future, I’m showing the universe that I am not grateful for what I have now, and I will never have that which I want or be fulfilled with anything that I have. I will be constantly looking towards and waiting for some imaginary point in the future when I will be fulfilled by something outside of me, which is physically impossible.

I remember when I couldn’t hardly be grateful for anything. I’ve written this poem about gratitude below to show my change of perspective and how I hope to live life at all times.

Gratitude Poem

So ungrateful I was before
I couldn’t appreciate anything in life
Because I felt like I didn’t have
Anything that I wanted

I couldn’t achieve I wanted
I couldn’t be what I wanted
I didn’t want anything I had
I wasn’t grateful for anything

When I finally found myself
And realized I already had everything
Saw everything I was looking for
Was already located within me

I suddenly became grateful for everything
Now everything in the universe
Even the most mundane occurrence
Appears to me as a great mystery

Now every gentle hug from my wife
Every conversation with a friend
Every day the sun is shining
I feel humble gratitude for

Every meal and morsel I eat
Every fresh breath of air I inhale
Every piece of clothing I have
I feel so incredibly grateful for

Every family member I have
Every moment that passes me by
Every dollar I have in my pocket
I feel like the luckiest man alive

Every moment of joy I experience
Every opportunity to learn
Every day I wake up in the morn
I feel gratitude overcoming my heart

Every ounce of work I expend
Every act of service performed
Each and every thing I receive
I take in with joy and thankfulness

Every moment of bad and frustration
Each time I experience failure
Every time I feel like I want to give up
I remember to show gratitude

I’m so thankful for every moment of my life
Every day I get to be alive
And experience all the ups and downs of living
To be here enjoying the live I’ve been given

I wrote this life poem about finding my purpose. After being limited for so long I finally realized I can do anything I want. I’m not limited. I realized I have a universe of infinite possibility in front of me. I have also written a number of poems about life that I hope you enjoy here about finding my purpose and other musings.

I Can Do Anything

I thought I was limited
I didn’t have much ability
There wasn’t much opportunity
I was supposed to follow society

Even the best books of the time
Could only possibly recommend
Something other than what my soul wanted
Something not generated from my own heart

Every well-intentioned guidance from family and friends
Every idea of my life how to live
Every concept of how to earn money
Every path already carved out

Led me down a path not true to myself
Had me attempting to seek what was “right”
Caused me to look outside of myself
And trust in someone or something which knew better than me

I wondered why happiness eluded me
I wondered why I wasn’t fulfilled
I didn’t know I wasn’t doing what I wanted
I didn’t know I wasn’t following my own guidance

Every concept I had of what I should do
I was only following what I thought was right
Not knowing that what was right for me
Could not be told to me by anyone else

Now that the perceptions and opinion around me
The guidance from which I led my life by
Every layer has fallen by the wayside
Exposing the tender beating heart within me

I see the truth of what can fulfill me
Existing within me hidden from view
The loud noise distracting my attention
From the only guidance which knows what is right for me

The simplicity and fulfillment I had been seeking
The golden truth I had been seeking in faraway places
My life’s purpose, the meaning of it all
Lay within the recesses of my heart

I love to write and create
I love taking pictures of nature
I love sitting and connecting with other human beings
I love teaching and imparting to others

I love so many more things I can’t list here
Which I now realize I am free to create
My soul’s whisperings are now my compass
After years in the background now guiding my life

I pay attention to motivation and the reason why people do things. Money has always been a big motivating factor behind my actions, even though I don’t like to admit it. I wrote this motivational poem that explores the reasons why I do things.

Poem About Money

I love you, money
I didn’t have you for so long
You ruined my life
And everything I wanted to do

So I focused all my time
On learning how to get you, money
I learned about sales
And I got really good

But my skilled profession I chose
So I could finally get money
So I could feel good about myself
So I wouldn’t feel so worthless

The thrills and highs of my life
Are when a sale I close
When money finally comes in
And I feel like a capable man

I don’t know who I would be
If I lost my obsession with money
Would I act out of care for others?
Because right now I can’t find my need to care

I remember what love and service feel like
I would like to return to that place
When my actions were pure
Emanating from my desire to serve

Perhaps because I don’t feel secure
I don’t have the certainty I desire
That I can always get money
So I keep focus on redoubling my efforts

I don’t know how to feel secure
How to feel like money will always be there
How to let go of my singular motivation
To always be focused on how to get money

I don’t yet feel perfectly strong in myself
Or in my abilities to provide value in the world
So I don’t know money will always be there
Because it hasn’t always been there for me

Poetry, photography, camping and nature
Wildlife, expression and serving another
Used to be what I naturally loved
And what my heart desired to do

I love teaching and learning
Coaching and lifting another
Imparting of the wisdom I have
So another might benefit

I receive no lasting gratification
No permanent source of fulfillment
From any sale or dollar I receive
From any amount of money I have

Lord, please help me let go
Please help my motivation to change
Please help me release my fears
And my beliefs about scarcity and survival

Please help me to trust in myself
And not be motivated by fear
Please help me to see my infinite worth
The strength and power I have within

To know my survival is guaranteed
And my place as a man in the world
My worthiness, my value to feel within
And not from a sale I make

Back to love and service I long for
I believe I’ll get there one day
To showing others to follow my lead
To let go of of their worries about money

I won’t starve, I won’t lack
My worthiness cannot skyrocket
Or cannot be changed one iota
From any amount of money I earn

Worthiness and money are not connected
Worthiness and value can never change
Worthiness and value are infinite
Not based on accomplishment, money or prestige

Money has not let go of its grip on me
I have not let go of my grip either
But one day my motivation will change
Regardless of how much money I have or have not

When I can connect with another being
Without the subtle voices and urges
Pushing me to act how I don’t want
Enticing me to seek for what I can’t get

When I can serve from love and service
Without the deceptive desires
Which pull me down a path
That leads to despair and emptiness

I will find my motivation again
I will find what truly fulfills me
I will not have money be my guide
Or the director of my life

I will live my life in freedom
I will act from what makes me happy
Because I am already fulfilled inside
I already have what I’ve been trying to get

I already have the worth I’ve been seeking
My needs are already taken care of
I will not have money as my guide
And let my heart guide instead

When I feel sad and hopeless
When I want to give up on the world
The reason is because I’m idle

When I feel depressed
When I just can’t see a reason to live
When all I can see is despair
I am not taking action

I’m lying around and moping
By myself in my room
Waiting for something good to happen
Waiting for something to save me

Whether because of fear
No matter the reason
My lack of love and purpose
Festers and grows out of idleness

When I am serving
When I am in action
When I am actively loving
I have no lack of love or purpose

If I don’t know where to go
Then I start moving to get there
I don’t need to know where to go
But I can’t get there if I don’t move

To get there only requires movement
One step in front of the other
I can only make corrections from movement
I can’t correct what doesn’t move

Love is an action, not a descriptor
I feel in love when I am loving
My despair, sadness and loneliness
Results from the ABSENCE of action

Whenever I feel without purpose
I get up and begin taking action
Whenever I feel hopelessness ensuing
I place one foot in front of the other

Whenever I want to crumble and die
Whenever I don’t feel like it
I remember to spring into action
I immediately take a step forward

I return to loving and serving
I return to actively giving
Life happens from movement
From a continuous flow of active love

Listening to Myself

It’s OK to be ME
It’s OK to ask myself for guidance
I have my own permission
To seek out my own internal barometer

I can listen to the still small voice
The creative voice of my inner child
The happy kid who became excited
At almost anything entering his path

I can listen to what my heart says
I can heed my soul’s inner whisperings
I can feel what wants to spring forth
Only now will I finally listen

I thought society knew best before
I was following what I thought I “should” do
I followed what sounded like good ideas
Concepts, noble purposes, societal norms

I followed ideas like helping others
Saving the world, doing good deeds
Finding my purpose and building a business
After I got good grades and got a good job

But I never listened to myself
I never listened to what made my heart sing
I paid no attention to my own inner voice
Which knows what’s best for me above everything else

Above the plan my parents’ laid out
Above the plan my church described
Above the plan my good intentions laid out
Above the plan my fears prescribed

Not what I should do
Not what the rest are doing
Not because having a business is right
Or becoming wealthy or building passive income is either

All are great ideas I know
But no idea is greater than what my heart knows
What my soul lives and breathes inside
What my body continuously whispers to me

Searching and seeking, but never finding
Until I listen to what’s always been present
The quiet still voice whispering to me
Telling me my own path to fulfillment

Feeling like a fool I come back to this moment
Realizing I had never asked myself the question
What would make me happy?
What would make my heart sing for joy?

What does my heart say?
What does my soul crave for?
What does my inner guidance tell me to do?
I just might find out for the first time

For so long I had neglected my voice
What I had truly wanted inside
What surprises, what joy
What fulfillment, what treasure

What blessings of joy I will find
As I journey back into where I came from
And ask myself what is best for me
Resting assure my own wisdom knows best
